Overview
Who can be included in my network?
As it’s your own network you can invite whomever you feel is appropriate and if using with a neighborhood, this would be your immediate neighborhood or others in your nearby community. Besides adding others to your network, you can also create different folders to share with different groups of people, such as for ones that might be interested in doing a shared garden or other activity.
How can I inform others of new content that’s been added?
Any time you add new content, you can let others in your neighborhood know about it through sending them an email notification. Just highlight the content, such as a note, photo or website, and click the button labeled Email. From this, you can add others that the folder is shared with to the To, Cc or Bcc fields. To make the notification a little more efficient, some of the content will already be included in the email, such as the content of a note or the actual link for a website. Of course you can modify or remove any of this as needed. Once they receive the email, they can reply either directly from their email or click a link to add a comment in your network.
How can I stay aware of changes or new content that others have added?
You can do this from either the Updates section, getting an email notification that somebody else has sent or creating a newsletter. With a newsletter you can set it up to be notified any time somebody had added or shared content with you. This can be on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis and is only sent when there’s been a change.
Can I access from a mobile device?
Yes, helpful when needing to access while your outside or not in your home. Whether from an iPhone, iPad other tablet or Internet phone, you’ll find an Odysen network easy to navigate through, including minimization options to better focus on the content you’re looking for. You can also use the search to find something quick with simply typing in a keyword.
How can I customize or tailor the network for my neighborhood?
This can be done in a couple ways. For your network you can select your own sub-domain name as well as setting up the overall layout of your network. The sub-domain could be the name of the street or other general area that you live in, something that’s common with your neighborhood. Users can customize their language, have an option to include a phone number and can select their display name of preference.
Examples
How can I use to store different types reference information?
This can be helpful for different types of maintenance or service information. Such as trusted electricians, painters, roofers, plumbers and so on. Create folders and sub-folders as appropriate, add their websites, blogs available or a few notes for extra information. Others can look up in the specific folders or do a search to find any content in the network that’s been shared with them.
How can I use to organize a neighborhood event?
You can do this be creating a folder for the event, share with others involved and add different types of content. This could be an event, including an email alert to notify minutes, hours or days beforehand, a website for extra reference information, a note of any details or an overview of the event or actions if using for a community project. Inform others of new folders or content with an email notification.
Can I use to help keep others informed of local news?
Besides including some of more official news feeds, you can also include local blogs or add a news search about more specific topics or activities that happen in your area. Create a folder for local updates and add the different news feeds as appropriate. Once done, you can see the most recent article from each source in an integrated view, helping to efficiently go through, look for any changes or updates and looking further into or moving on.
Can I use to share photos with others?
As it’s your own network, you can comfortably share photos with others as appropriate in your neighborhood. Whether this is in a folder shared with everyone or other folders you’ve created to share with just a few others. You can view in full screen mode or in a slideshow if viewing a collection of photos. Send an email notification of new photos uploaded, they can click a link to go directly to the photo in your network.
How can I use to share new local recipes discovered?
As the seasons change, so often does the availability change of different types of ingredients. Create a folder for recipes, add your favorites into a note using a bullet list for ingredients and a numbered list for instructions. Or, if you discovered a recipe from another website, you can add that to websites. If you have a photo of the creation, you can add it to the documents application with the instructions included in the description.
